Snow Southern Cali Style

I think it's fun to pick something that you can collect for Christmas decorating. Maybe just a color or an iconic symbol. I like to collect all things silver and snowflakes. My mom has decided to collect trees since she lives in the beautiful redwoods.  My mother in law loves stars.

I collect snowflakes because I never get any at my house for Christmas.  I do love a "little" snow. I am a Canadian, but California has made me soft.  I just don't think I could handle 5 + months of snow. I like a couple weeks of it, and then I'm happy I don't have to plug in my car or scrape the windows before I can drive anywhere. I also love that the Sequoias are less then 2 hours from my house and I can snow shoe and sled to my hearts content.

This is the closest I'm getting to a white Christmas this year.  These sugar cookies are my husbands fave.   I just made yummy buttercream icing, piped it on and sprinkled them with sparkly sugar.

Buttercream Icing


2 cups butter
8 cups icing sugar (powdered sugar)
3 tsp. vanilla
1/4 cup half and half

Beat it until it is smooth and fluffy.
