Cricut Gold - Half Moon Wall Hanging

I'm a huge fan of a wall hanging. They are a casual, relaxed way to bring color and pattern to a space. They are also usually a more frugal options over framed art.  

Well, I'm still having fun with my Cricut Gold Explore Machine. When I was asked to create some exclusive designs for Cricut's Gold Explore Machine for JoAnn Fabric Store (check it out here, under Die Cut Machines, Supplies and More at Joann.com), I knew I wanted them to feel clean, modern and have midcentury modern vibe. This half moon shape might be my new triangle. If you've followed O+P for a while now, you know that I've been known to use a triangle here and there. But, move over triangles, I might have a new favorite shape. 

Using iron-on vinyl in white, black and gold, I placed these half moon shapes in a random pattern. Whether you have a Cricut Explore machine or not, This is an easy project to make.  By cutting ovals in half and placing the pairs together with a small gap, you can recreate this look. But, of course using the Cricut's Make-It-Now feature is the easiest way to do this. All the materials and instructions for this wall hanging are listed, there's no guess work, just click and cut. HERE's the how-to.

For these pillows I used 12" pillows is solid white, grey and black. Using Cricut's Iron-On vinyl in black, white, gold and gold glitter (available at Cricut.com), I created custom, graphic pillows for my home.

Numbered Shower Bottles

Two weeks ago, Lon and I spent the night in LA at the Ace Hotel to celebrate our 17th wedding anniversary.  It was so great.  It was only 24 hours, but it felt like we had been gone a whole week. The hotel was amazing. It's all about the details folks. There is so much thought put into the little touches at the Ace. 

One of my favorite things was the bathroom in our hotel room. It was gorgeous you guys.  Amazing brass fixtures and the cutest 1-2-3 bottles for shampoo, conditioner and body wash (you can see my instagram of them here).  On the way home I found some 16 oz. bottles on Amazon.com and ordered them right away. I wanted to recreate this simple look for our bathroom at home. 

Using my Cricut Explore and some white vinyl, I quickly cut out my 1, 2 and 3.  I love the font Bebas Neue. It's clean, blocky and perfect for labels. With Cricut Craft Room, you can use any font you want. 

Since the bottles came in pairs, I had an extra one. So, I labeled it with the word 'wash' and filled it with hand soap for the bathroom sink. For this one, I used the font Blackout.

Look how great they are in my bathroom? They fit perfectly in the little nook in our shower. No more clutter of mismatched bottles. We are showering in style now.

DIY Triangle Patterned Door

Well, everyday I feel more and more like an official blogger. The studio is really changing the game for me.  I'm LOVING it.  Not only is it a great place to work and shoot my pics, but my home feels soooo much bigger. Getting all of my craft "crap" out of all of our closets and corners of our house was so freeing.  I love being able to shut the door of the studio and not have to look at my half-finished projects all evening long.  I still edit pics and write posts at home, but the messy part of the blog is houses at the studio.

Olivia still thinks it's fun to go to the studio and today she spend a couple hours cutting and gluing works of art. A friend of ours asked her last night what she was thinking when she was making these pieces, and she replied without a pause, "I wasn't thinking I was just making."  A girl after my own heart.  Makers Gotta Make!

This weekend Lon helped me give the studio a fresh coat of white paint.  I also decided the door from the office room to the larger work room need some Oleander + Palm personalizing.  All the cool kids and "real" bloggers have fun and creative doors.  I wanted something that was really O+P. So, I chose to paint the door a pretty grey and add triangles to it.  I used gold vinyl and the faux marble contact paper that I also used on the DIY Marble Shamrock Print I created.

I used my trusty Cricut Explore machine to cut out these faux marble and gold triangles in no time at all. Vinyl is magic. It's so much easier then painting and I decided my landlord might appreciate the triangles being just vinyl and 100% removable. I placed them on the door in two rows.  I chose to arrange these in a random order, kind of like the wooden tray I recently made.  The studio has all white walls, so I think this makes the space a lot more interesting and hopefully it's very O+Pish.

XOXO Wall Heart

I love a big heart on my wall (like this one and this one), so I had to come up with a new one for Vday 2015. This XOXO Heart is pretty fun. Playing with the modern shape of the very popular Swiss Cross, this heart is fun and graphic. And I love the combination of gold, white and grey.

I used my Cricut Explore machine to cut out these X and Os in no time at all.  Then using a little blue painters tape to keep the shapes in rows and evenly spaced, I stuck them to the wall. It's a big statement, but so easy to remove when you want a change.  Vinyl is really a fun material to work with.

Well, I'm finally packed and off for SLC to attend Alt Summit. I'm excited to learn more and connect with other creative folks.

Gem Boxes

You guys, that Target dollar spot gets me every time.  Last week I came across these cute faceted boxes for just $3 each. I decided they needed a little customizing and they'd be perfect for Valentine gifts for special folks in my life. 

Keeping with the gem like shape of the containers, I added "You're a Gem" and "Shine Bright" in gold vinyl letters to the lids of these cute boxes.

There's a lot of fun things you could do with these boxes. I cut my letters with my Cricut Explore machine, but it would be easy and cute to add a message just using metallic sharpies as well. And maybe you don't want a message, but a pattern would be really cute as well.  I'm thinking a bunch of stars or hearts could be really fun.
